I am hands on and I listen.

This was evident in my role as a  trustee. I did not wait for people to call me. I regularly visited schools, went to school council meetings, spoke with staff and families to listen to their concerns, to offer solutions when I could and to advocate for things that were important to them. I also regularly attended Town events that were relevant to my Trustee role. 

I closed the circle of communication - when someone contacted me, I responded quickly, resolved if I could or got the people/department involved who could provide assistance. I then followed up to ensure that the person had their concern addressed.  

I am a team player.

I work collaboratively as evident in my 32 years of teaching and in my last four years as a trustee. I got along with my colleagues and respected their ideas and decisions. We did not always agree but we kept that between us and publicly, we acted as one Board. I will work collaboratively with my ward partners and the Mayor so that our message is consistent. We should not be working in silos. We are all working for the citizens of East Gwillimbury.

I am available, accountable and transparent.

I work for the taxpayers/my constituents. I believe that all decisions must be made through the lens of what is best for our community; that way, we do not get side tracked. Egos and personal agendas have to stay out of decision making.
